Surfing Day 3 – Photos

By Kip

3rd day of surfing lessons today… the surf was the biggest yet with quite a strong sideways rip and we were down one instructor.

Gwynne was finding it hard to swim out past the breaks of the big waves but once out there she has something like a 95% success rate at getting up ! (with a push to catch the wave) and usually can ride them all the way to the beach. The way she rides (and falls) has earned her the nickname ‘Pelican’ from the instructor.

Her success rate is much higher than mine, but I’m pretty happy as I’m able to catch waves on my own now. Jen and Solana are doing great and have caught a bunch themselves too.

The instructor calls Jen either ‘Yenny’ or ‘Mama’ and I get ‘Kid’ or ‘Papa’. He answers to ‘Pikachu’. Got some stills and video today which I’ll post soon. Even bigger surf in the forecast for tomorrow…
