Exploring the Guanacaste coast

September 28, 2016October 6, 2016 By Kip

After our morning classes today, we drove about 20km up the coast to explore some other nearby beaches.

Playa Flamingo

We stopped for lunch at a little restaurant in Playa Flamingo called ‘The Beach House’.  It was pretty idyllic with the boats anchored in the bay and the sound of waves gently breaking on the shore.

Playa Conchal – Shell Beach

After lunch we drove back to Brasilita and turned off the main road onto the beach.  We followed the hard-packed sand road down the shoreline and parked under the trees.  A short hike brought us to Playa Conchal (shell beach), so named because the north end of the beach is composed entirely of broken seashells.  The girls and I played in the waves, letting them toss us up on the beach and pull us back in.  The flotsam of pieces of wood floating in the shallows harboured numerous small crabs and one of them mistook me for a log and tried to hitch a ride on my back! 🙂

Great photos! Hadn’t heard anything for a few days and was wondering what you were doing, so it is good to see the new blog.
    Enjoy! And Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Mom! Yeah, I stopped posting on FB because I wanted to get the blog going. I’ve struggled a bit to get good wifi and to get the blogging software setup etc. We’ve since had 3 nights at the Arenal Volcano and drove to Sarapiqui today. Will send more soon but depending on wifi may not be able to post again for a few days. Have a great Thanksgiving!
